Merchant services provide everything — from hardware to software — that a business needs to process credit or debit card payments for in-store and online stores. Other accepted forms of payment may include Apple Pay, Google Pay, and gift cards. Merchant services include:
Merchant Services can support a variety of business types, including retailers, restaurants, lodging, professional services, and consumer services such as home repair and salons.
The issuing bank will charge the cardholder’s account for the transaction amount. That bank will transfer the funds to the merchant bank (Fiserv in this case), minus interchange fees. The merchant bank will then deposit funds into your business account. It usually takes 1-2 days for funds to be transferred into your account.
Costs may vary depending on your business needs. Authorization fees, or the fee your business pays for credit card transactions, can be percentage-based (1.5% to 3.5%) or a fixed fee. You may also be charged a setup fee, monthly or annual account fees, and statement fees. You will also need to purchase a card reader or POS system.
